Sadly, it is the house you're thinking of that would be demolished as part of this application. I used to live just up the hill from the site - this application would have a huge impact on the road - and I'm pleased that local residents seem to be united in their opposition.

For several weeks the situation in Dartmouth Road was being made much worse by the fact that traffic was being diverted there as a result of the closure of Sydenham Rise to Northbound traffic due to gas works. At the time I wondered why the lights had not been re-programmed to take account of the diversion, but perhaps the damage you mention was in part the cause. Why though did no-one from TfL or the council notice the very lengthy queues? Perhaps because traffic through Forest Hill in rush hours and at weekends is regularly pretty terrible, though in fairness it's hard to see what could be done to make things better.

It would, and it shouldn't be. It's been suggested before (including by us) but it appears to be a far to obvious and value-for-money improvement for the bureaucrats to contemplate.

It does, but even within planning law as it stands this could have been prevented if Cllr Alexander (the deputy Mayor and responsible for planning policy for those who don't know) had agreed to instruct officers to produce a proper review and policy for the site as I asked her to instead of saying she didn't "think it is a good use of officer time."

Given that Lewisham Council's consultation on site allocations received a record number of objections for this site (over 300 if I recall correctly - more than any other non-strategic site) most people would have seen my suggestion as entirely reasonable, but perhaps it's more evidence that Labour don't really give a stuff about what people actually want until they're forced to.
